Simi's story
Simi is only 18 years old and is hearing-impaired. When she became pregnant, she could not talk about what had happened to her. So, she wrote down the name of the person that raped her, and her family made her live with this man.
Noeline's story
In South Africa, women are twice as likely to have HIV and violence against women is one factor that drives this inequality. KwaZulu-Natal Province has the highest HIV burden – this is where Crossroads works with ladies like Noeline.
Anenyasha's story
Many women in Bulawayo’s high-density suburbs resort to sex work in desperation. Sex work for Anenyasha is difficult and dangerous. The risk of violence is great. As many as 75% of female sex workers are assaulted or abused.
YOUR GIFT WILL:
CREATE PATHWAYS OUT OF SEX WORK for 70 girls & women in Zimbabwe, by providing vocational & business skills training, or support to further their education.
TRAIN THESE 70 AS PEER EDUCATORS in sexual health information, & support them in educating their peers - to reach 4,625 other girls engaged in, or at risk of entering, sex work.
PROTECT VULNERABLE GIRLS FROM ABUSE in South Africa, where ‘sugar daddies’ groom children. We’ll provide vital relationships & sexual health education & help them report abuse.
HELP 12 HIV+ WOMEN BUILD NEW HOMES in South Africa, to replace those lost to floods & to create a sustainable income for the future.
PROTECT UNBORN BABIES FROM HIV through prevention of mother-to-child transmission outreach in Nigeria.
PROVIDE RELATIONSHIP & SEX EDUCATION for girls at Esteem clubs in Nigeria empowering them to make wise & healthy choices about relationships & sex, & promoting gender equality.
