During the current COVID-19 situation we are adapting our accredited training to run online. We want to do our bit to contain the virus and to help keep things going for when things return to a more normal routine. So we have some great news to share with you!
Working with our partners at the Open College Network West Midlands we have arranged to provide our accredited 4 day relationships and sex education course by video conferencing software. During this coronavirus outbreak, we will not be running any training in physical buildings but we are excited that we will still be able to provide the training and the accreditation online.
Our next 4 day course at the end of April and beginning of May was scheduled to run in a Cambridgeshire venue. This course is still going ahead but the venue has changed from a room to a Zoom! The dates, timing and format of the course will remain the same, with the same great quality content and teaching provided for learners by the same expert team of experienced relationships and sex educators.
We recognise that in-person training allows for some great learning experiences and we are working hard to replicate these where we can and also explore the new training options the digital venue provides. We will arrange for learners to access the same materials which they would have accessed when the course is delivered in a physical space. The video conferencing will also be just as interactive and personal as an in-person course, and we will have the same maximum group size.
In recognition that meeting people face-to-face can be really valuable for learners, once we are back to running training courses in person, we will arrange optional, free, one-day, in-person, update training events for anyone who attended the video conferencing version of our 4 day RSE training course during the COVID-19 lockdown period.
Just like any learner who has completed the 4 day course in person, learners who complete the digital training will gain all the benefits of becoming members of the Esteem network. Including an ever growing pack of RSE resources. These resources include 15 unique lesson plans, the Girls’ Project and the Boys’ Project (2 small group 6- session tailored RSE programmes).
Members also get discounts on future training and ongoing support from the acet UK team. During the COVID-19 situation and beyond, we have plenty of upcoming resources and projects to support people to provide the best possible relationships and sex education.
One unexpected benefit of this adaption to digital learning is that hopefully more people will be able to access the training who have not yet been able to access an in-person course at a location close to them.
We have a second 4 day accredited course booked for this summer currently in Manchester. Whilst this situation is still rapidly developing and no one can make firm predictions for the next few weeks, let alone months, we are preparing for this course to also change from a physical venue to an online venue.
In addition to our 4 day accredited relationships and sex education training course we are also adapting our teacher training and bespoke training offers. If you are interested in finding out more about one of our other formats of training or have other questions about our digital offer please contact our Esteem Network Director at Gareth@acet-uk.com.
Technical requirements for learners to attend include needing a computer, a webcam, with access to Zoom or a phone or tablet with the same capability. You can learn more about the free video conferencing software zoom and can sign up to, for free, at https://zoom.us/. If you are a first time user of Zoom, you will have the opportunity to have a go with the software before with the lead trainer. Just email Gareth@acet-uk.com if you would like to test zoom before booking your place on this online course.
